The Spiderweb

The spiderweb, nature's lace,
most precious when
by morning dew embraced.
All dewdrops resplendent,
pure orbs, gems
transform to brilliance
each silvery strand
that clings to them.
Though, this sweet façade
is a trap near
which no one should trod.
For should an unsuspecting bug
(though it will pull and it will tug)
find itself be-trapped,
it may look forward
only to its blood being savored
and slowly lapped.
