'The expression on her face',Yes, Despair....when you feel all hope is lost, shattered dreams. The painting reminds me of a scene in the film, 'The French Lieutenents Woman' with Meryl Streep. Birds don't fly in such stormy weather, their is, which looks like , a buzzard above her. I wonder if a bird of prey is significant to this , despair?
