Restrictions painted by J Pitre.

Painted in the late 1960’s, and signed and published in 1972, this early work became one of the most popular printed images of its time, selling in the millions worldwide.
The rider represents each and every one of us, and the horse, Pegasus (the mythical creature of poetic inspiration) is symbolic of the vehicles we choose to ride through life – our occupations, goals, loves, and dreams.
The silver ropes tethering us the earth are the “restrictions” placed upon us in life, which temporarily prevent us from flying without limitations to embrace our dreams and goals.
The rider looks skyward with hope and optimism toward an image of himself, free and unencumbered, in the clouds.

I owned this painting in 1972, when I was 3 yr old. My mother took me to the John Hancock building, I sat in front of the painting for hours and when she finally decided she was done walking through the mall... I still had yet to move... I love this painting and truly wish to know who painted it. For it was lost in a house fire.
This is not the full original, the painting was much taller and in the clouds there was a shelf, on that shelf of clouds was another angel, on a pegasus watching as this one raised his hand for help, The other watched on, calm expression, without making a move to help.
