The words "Agape Love" mean unconditional love. That is perfect love, with no strings attached.
When Jesus lived on the earth, He showed that kind of love time and time again as He ministered to people. He reached out to them, healed them, cared for them, and accepted them as they were. But He did more than that. He not only delivered them from illnesses and sins, He inspired them to become something better than what they were. He changed people's lives.
Even when spikes were driven into His hands and feet, as He was crucified, He was thinking of others. He was enduring excruciating, terrible pain, yet He said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
He wanted the very people who were causing Him so much pain to have opportunity to have their lives changed-- to be able to receive eternal life.
He was amazing. He still is. He is alive. He is truly the Son of God. His love is amazing, and is truly Agape love.

Earlier today I made a version of this wall that does not have the words of Jesus on it. Here is the link to it.
(I made this wallpaper at a 1680x 1050 resolution, but it also looks fine on my 1920 x 1080 screen. If you have either of these screen resolutions, you can download the original wallpaper for sure. )

Unless I missed something, I believe that I am in agreement with everything you have said in your last two comments here, Emma.
God loves and reaches out to everyone, worldwide. His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, went to the cross voluntarily, so that all people would have the opportunity to have ever lasting life.
But... there is a condition that goes with that.
God reaches out to all people, but in order to receive God's forgiveness and eternal life, people have to reach back!
They can choose God, or they can reject God. People have that freedom of choice, because God will not force people to choose Him.
If they do not choose God, however, he will not save them, forgive them, or give them eternal life, for they made their own free choice to reject Him.
Emma, I am thinking that we are on the same page here after all.
I've one more thing to say. Since I accepted Jesus Christ into my heart about 35 years ago, my life has changed so much. It is so worth living. I would love for everyone I know to experience joy and fulfillment in God like I do. The life that I live now isn't always easy and has it's ups and downs... but it is so WORTH it!
Elaine, *Agape Love* is not 'unconditional love', but love based on a principle of fairness to all.
It's love with no prejudice of who we are/were/ did before..., Agape love is not blind/ excusing wrongdoing. If God and Christ loved the world like that..., everyone would be automatically saved with no effort on their part. But God doesn't wish to force anyone to come to Him. He gives us a freedom of choice. Their love for us is perfect, and they loved us before we loved them but it is conditional love..., we have to make an effort to change our personalities; thinking/ hearts/ what we like..., if these are not in harmony with Jesus teachings and what God wants from us.
_otherwise, yes Christ and God's love for us is perfect... and everything else you said is true...,
