When I offer comfort, I do my best not to sound like a philosopher and say things like "you have to handle it and be strong. you cant let this get you down" instead I rather hear, "I'm so sorry that this happened to you and I pray that you will find the strength to get through this very quickly. Know that I am thinking about you and hoping you will be ok." This is so much more comforting. That's just my opinion though. When we show compassion, its so wonderful to be shown it in return. Amen, lol.
