This year really had me wondering if Spring was ever going to come! The weather in Metro Detroit, Michigan would be frigid for 4 or 5 days, warm up a bit for a day or two, and then would get cold again. There were many days in the low 20's with windchills in the teens. I got excited whenever the temperature struggled up to 45 degrees.
We had snow, ice, and rain all by turns. Major League Baseball games all over the country were cancelled because of the cold. Sometimes they were called off because of snow, but not always. On April 5th, I watched the Detroit Tigers play the White Sox in Chicago on TV. Snow was pouring down on the field like salt out of a shaker, and it lasted through most of the game. Players blew on their hands trying to keep them warm.
The last straw for me was when a major ice storm came in Saturday night, April 14th. The bad weather continued into Sunday. When we got back from church, our power was out. With the temperature in the 20's, our house got cold fast.
Altogether, 400,000 customers lost power. We got our power back 37 hours later on Monday evening. Some people didn't get their power back until Thursday morning.
Although we were very thankful to get lights and warmth in the house again, we did not get our internet, phones, or TV back until Friday afternoon. I managed to log into DN with my tablet a few times from work, but on the whole, I was stranded.
I wasn't surprised when I learned that Detroit and it's entire metropolitan area had broken temperature records from the 1870's. When all is said and done this Spring may turn out to be the coldest on record!
Well, enough from me. How about the rest of you from Canada and the USA? Do you have crazy/weird Spring weather that you'd like to talk about? If so, share your thoughts in the comments!

May 4th 2017... We had crazy winds today... dangerously strong. 230,000 customers lost their power; I was glad that we weren't one of them this time... but my mother lost her phones and her internet just like we did a couple of weekends ago.
The weather made me nervous enough to cancel driving out to see my baby granddaughter today. At least 2 semi trucks blew off of the freeway and rolled onto their sides. One person was killed by a falling tree, and another person was serious injured by one. The weird Spring weather continues...
Ah, Yes, The Weather!!! Crazy this year Cold Ice Rain and of course W-I-N-D!! and Snow. Cold cold cold! Now yesterday Drum row... 83 F degree- winds 40 to 45 mph 8: am! We are in Tornado Alley. One storm went through already next one outside the back door.. so to speak. The Sun is trying to shine and our forecast STORMS! That wraps up our report from inside "Iowa" from the " Breadbasket, Heartland, Midwest or whatever name they're calling " Us " (Iowa) this year! Lol. Got to go off to the Doctor!
Same here , the Great White North really lived up to it's name this year...lol...we might as well scratch spring out of our 4 seasons and just stick to 3 for now , maybe next year we will go with 2 seasons...
As usual, the UK had cold weather for the first few months of the year. Then in April we got our westerly winds with plenty of April showers. Then, all of a sudden, about 10 days ago we had high pressure to the east and low pressure to the west, over the Atlantic. The outcome was a week of temperatures maxing out at 29 degrees Centigrade! The hottest April weather since 1949! Crazy!
I agree. We still have our furnace on. My beautiful flower baskets are hanging in my house. It was 34 degrees last night, 20 degrees below average. Just when we see Spring coming it turns back to Winter. We had snow showers last week. It is crazy here.
Your right and I live in Michigan. With Michigan you can have 4 seasons on one day! I am so use to the out of elec. from the storm of winter and summer. We are here to help you and love you
