According to Greek Mythology, Mother nature was Demeter, and her daughter, Persephone was kiddnapped by Hades and forced to be his wife. She had eaten some pomegranate seeds and Zeus decreed for each seed she had eaten was a month she spent in Hades. The rest of the months she could spend with Demeter. when Persephone is Hades, Demeter is sad and so we have Winter.
