Hi everyone! We're hard at work trying to keep our community clean, so if you see any spam, please report it here and we'll review ASAP! Thanks a million!
I think NOT! This is no "Abstract Planet".... it's Saturn! The image comes from a series of shots taken by the Cassini Spacecraft on its rendezvous with the planet and its many moons. The stunning back-lit effect comes from Cassini's approach angle, which had the Sun behind, therefore in shadow. Like an eclipse. In some photos you can even see a tiny dot up in the left hand corner which, incredibly, is EARTH! Gorgeous combo. This is a much smaller version of that vantage point but still captivating in its own way. But I'd hold out for Cassini's closer photograph which is brilliant and easy to find. However, I'll take Saturn's amazing rings anywhere anytime. Thanks!
