Black Cats Aren't Bad Luck (But Suffer from the Stigma): Due to Halloween promotions and old wives' tales, black cats are perceived as being “bad luck” or “evil.” This is entirely not true! Like humans, it doesn't matter what color their outside is—a tender heart on the inside is all that matters.
Unfortunately, black cats do suffer from the stigma of their color. Across the U.S., black cats are typically the ones who remain at the shelter the longest. They are also the ones who most often are abused by cruel people during the month of October, around Halloween.
FVHA has a moratorium on black cats—that is, we do not allow adoptions—throughout the entire month of October, because of incidents of animal cruelty to black cats in the past across the U.S.
If you own a black cat or a mostly black cat and if you allow her outdoors, please consider keeping her inside at all times—but especially during the month of October.
If you don't own a black cat, please consider adopting one from FVHA or your nearest animal shelter—as with all cats, they make wonderful, loving companions!

Delighted about what you posted there about black cats. It is very true they are very sweet, loving and not evil or bad luck at all! It breaks my heart that they stay at the shelter the longest because of those silly, outdated beliefs. In Asia they are considered to be lucky and I really like that idea a lot. All kitties and animals are beautiful, sweet and loving and need to be shown the same. Wonderful wallpaper of a beautiful, sweet and LUCKY black cat!
