This reminds me of one of the Species movies. Species II, I think. If I'm not mistaken, it's the one where the crew from a Mars mission has these core samples in cylindical storage bins. One of these begins to show signs of thawing, and a blob-like organic tentacles spread out to tag each astronaut.
