The city of Frankenmuth, Michigan is located in Saginaw County. (For those of us accustomed to using our hand as a point of reference, that is just to the left of the thumb on the edge of the Michigan mitten.)
Frankenmuth was settled and named in 1845 by Lutheran immigrants from Franconia (now part of Bavaria) in Germany. One of the things that makes Frankenmuth such an interesting place to visit is the German influence that can be seen in the city's architecture and culture. In fact, one of Frankenmuth's nicknames is Little Bavaria.
This is a mural inside the Bavarian Inn on Main Street in Frankenmuth. The children remind me a bit of the Hummel Figurines that my mother used to collect when I was young. But this is not the only reason I decided to upload this as a wallpaper.
I think the little girl on the right bears a startling resemblance to DN member Kitty Catty! Could this little girl be one of her ancestors??? You never know....

This mural was on a plain off white wall. I created the red frame to go with the mural.
